What can I do with eWallet?

The eWallet from FNB allows you to:

  • Send Money to anyone who holds a valid Vodacom South Africa cellphone number. The money can be sent from an active FNB transactional account*
  • Choose any of the three different methods to Send Money from: Cellphone Bańking or FNB ATM whichever is the most convenient

*Please note:

Currently, FNB customers will not be able to send money from FNB Credit Card Accounts; however, this will be available at a later stage.

Sending and Receiving is not currently available at Mini-ATMs, but will be available at a later stage.

A recipient of money can:

  • Send a portion of the money in the eWallet to another eWallet in exactly the same way
  • Withdraw all or some of the money from the eWallet at an FNB ATM without needing a Bańk card. The rest of the money can be withdrawn at a later stage
  • Buy prepaid airtime from the eWallet
  • Check the eWallet account balance or get a mini statement

Qualifying Criteria

In order to Send Money to an eWallet:

  • You need an active FNB South Africa Limited transactional account
  • No registration or application is necessary if you send money via an FNB South Africa Limited ATM
  • You need to register for Cellphone Bańking in order to send money via your cellphone
  • You need to register for Ońline Bańking to send money via the Internet
  • You can Send Money from an eWallet to another person's South Africa cellphone

What will it cost?

As an introductory offer, you can send and receive money FREE of Bańk charges!

The following transactions are also FREE of Bańk charges:

  • When a recipient withdraws money from an FNB ATM
  • When a recipient sends money to someone else from the eWallet
  • When a recipient does any of the following transactions from the eWallet

What else do I need to know?

No more than M1 000 can be sent to the eWallet per day (including your prepaid purchases). The maximum amount that can be sent to the eWallet also depends on the existing balance in the eWallet, as the balance cannot exceed M1 000 at any given time

How do I Send Money?

To send money via Cellphone Bańking:

  1. Dial *120*321#
  2. Select Send Money
  3. Select the account you want to Send Money from
  4. Key in the cellphone number you want to send to
  5. Enter the amount you want to send
  6. Confirm that all is correct (make sure you entered the right cellphone number)

To Send Money via Ońline Bańking:

  1. Log into Ońline Bańking
  2. Select the Payments tab
  3. Select Send Money
  4. Enter your One Time PIN (OTP)
  5. Select the account you want to Send Money from
  6. Select the amount you want to send
  7. Key in the cellphone number you want to send money to
  8. Click on finish

To Send Money via an FNB ATM:

  1. Insert your card and enter your PIN
  2. Select More options
  3. Select Buy It/Pay It
  4. Select Send Money. Read the terms and conditions and then select Proceed
  5. Key in the cellphone number you want to send money to and select Proceed
  6. Key in the amount you want to send money to and select Proceed
  7. Confirm that all the details are correct and select Proceed
  8. Remember to take your card

How do I Receive Money?

  1. Once you've received an SMS telling you that you have been sent money
  2. Dial *120*277# to access the eWallet
  3. Set a secret 5-digit PIN for the eWallet
  4. Select 'Withdraw cash' and then 'Get ATM PIN'
  5. You'll receive an SMS with an ATM PIN
  6. Go to an FNB ATM.
  7. At the ATM press the green button (enter/ proceed) and then Wallet Services
  8. Key in your cellphone number and ATM PIN
  9. Choose the amount of money to withdraw. Make sure that either your transaction has ended or that you press 'cancel' before leaving the ATM.

Important information:

  • If you have been sent money but you have no airtime, dial *130*277# to buy airtime with the money that has been sent to you. Then dial *120*277#.
  • If an eWallet has not been activated within 13 days, the money will be returned to the sender.
  • Please ensure that the cellphone number of the person you are sending money to is correct.
