"Solving prematurity is our next moonshot."
Dr. Paul Wise, Co-Principal Investigator
of the March of Dimes Prematurity
Research Center at Stanford University
Inspired by President Kennedy's
stirring appeal more than 50
years ago, Dr. Paul Wise,
Co-Principal Investigator of the
March of Dimes Prematurity
Research Center at Stanford,
believes the Center's quest to
solve prematurity captures the
spirit of Kennedy's immortal
words in a speech to a joint
session of Congress, May 25, 1961.
"Now it is time to take longer strides — time for a great new American enterprise — time for this nation to take a clearly leading role in space achievement, which in many ways may hold the key to our future on earth."
Dr. Wise believes that President Kennedy's inspiring speech
about landing a man on the
moon and returning him to
Earth before the end of the
decade is identical to the
opportunity that faces the
March of Dimes Campaign to
End Preterm Birth.
