2. Using the information you gather from your reading to guide you as you form a plan that will be represented in a site specification document.

3. Work with your Design Buddy or individually to develop the Site Specification Document.

4. Save the document as a PDF file.

Questions

1. What the purpose of your instructional module? (You should choose a topic with which you are relatively familiar and that you feel that there is a purpose for an online instructional module.

Write a 1) statement of purpose for your site. Include the 2) goals of the site, 3) estimate length of time for site design and construction and 4) how you will evaluate the site.

1 and 2) The topic of my website will be "Document Delivery Services of the UT Libraries". The purpose and goal of my website will be to instruct and inform the staff of UTK Hodges Library of the reorganization within the Access and Delivery Services team as it applies to the new functions and workflows of the Digital Production Services unit. This unit nows works in coordination with Library Express and Interlibrary Loan, and replaces some of the functions of the former Duplication and Reserve units.

A secondary purpose will be to inform the general UT faculty and instructors of what services these units provide and where they need to go or whom they need to contact to avail themselves of these services. To a lesser degree, this website could assist UT students in the same manner.

3) This website will be completed by May 2006.

4) Feedback will include peer and audience feedback - in-person, by phone, or by email response.

UTK Hodges Library staff, UT faculty and instructors, and UT students

3. Who is your primary content expert (where will you get the resources needed for your site)?

Main Sections: Digital Production Services, Library Express, and Interlibrary Loan

Pages under each section:

(Digital Production Services) Reserve/Circulation, searching and copying, updating and scanning in ILLiad and Ariel, current periodicals and microfilm

(Library Express) retrieval from Storage/Ag/Music/Preston Medical, Distance Education, searching for ILS

(Interlibrary Loan) Lending, Borrowing, Illiad, Rapid, Ariel, cross-checks, resends

Audience is mostly on-campus (LAN, T3?), but some may access from home or office (DSL, cable).

3. How will reader reach the person(s) who will maintain the site?

email, phone, mail

4. What advanced features (JavaScript, Java applets, plug-ins (Flash player, PDF reader, etc.)) will be used?

PDF, gif, JavaScript?, Unix, NetID, probably not audio or video

5. What elements will have to be maintained for the site?

updates and changes to Library's procedures, site on UT web server, stats?
